Marking My Territory

I’m beginning to use a new watermark after a few months of not being able to make up my mind on a watermark that would get the job done without being too obnoxious.

I wanted something clean but noticeable, so I’ve settled on using just my last name and using a 20-20 approach: the size will be 20% of the image width and the opacity will be at 20%. It’s dark enough to see but light enough to see through.

I don’t use them to stroke my own ego, but rather to possibly deter any more image theft than already goes on on the Internet. Or more specifically, if any of my images do get used elsewhere, at least I’ll get some free advertising.

Have a Cow

We came across the almost-mythical Turkey Hill cow during a recent night out. Since we don’t run into too many cows that stand 15 feet tall and about 20 feet long too often, we had to get photos.

She even agreed to milk it when I suggested it.

Arctic Turn

This winter in the northeast has to be one of the most depressing. The storms are weekly, usually with three to six inches—not enough to consider dangerous but just enough to consider a nuisance, since doing much outdoors is next to impossible.

Add to that the constant cold, save for an occasional day in the low-50s, and cabin fever refuses to let up its grip.

If the Shoe Fits...

It’s gritty...it’s grainy...certain areas are a little blurry...to a degree it’s ugly. I love it.

Longing for Spring

I took this photo of a nearby lake last fall. As much as I enjoy looking at snow, I’ve really come to dislike the fact that going outdoors is almost impossible when sleet is falling and the thermometer hovers around 25 degrees.

I want spring.
